Stripe fees, payouts, and connected accounts
Understand the difference between Zwely checkout records and Stripe payment processing.
Zwely and Stripe work together, but they do different jobs. Zwely gives you the embedded checkout, order record, delivery tools, license keys, and merchant dashboard. Stripe handles sensitive payment details and payout rails.
When something is about what the buyer purchased or received, start in Zwely. When something is about bank payouts, disputes, or processor-level payment details, Stripe is usually the source of truth.
Who handles what
Stripe handles payment details
Buyers enter card details through Stripe-powered checkout. Zwely does not store raw card numbers, bank account numbers, or full payment credentials.
Your connected Stripe account receives payouts
Stripe manages payout timing, bank verification, payout destination, disputes, and payment processing fees through your connected account. If a payout is delayed or a bank account needs verification, check Stripe first.
Zwely records the commerce context
Zwely stores the order, product, customer, discount, fee, refund, delivery, and license context that helps you run the storefront and answer support questions.
Use the right dashboard
A helpful split: use Zwely to understand what was sold and delivered; use Stripe to understand payment processor status and payout timing.
Good to know
- Stripe processing fees are different from Zwely application fees.
